Game Week 3

Arsenal vs Brighton

Mikel is taking on another young upstart in this tactically astute and rather lethal Brighton side lead by new manager Fabian Hürzeler. Its going to be a tactical battle for sure. We breakdown just how Mikel can come out the winner!

Predicted XI

Both teams have begun their seasons with two wins each, with Arsenal making a strong statement in the title race by defeating Wolves and Aston Villa.\

Mikel Arteta faces a challenging schedule in the coming weeks, with matches against Tottenham and Manchester City next. Therefore, securing three more points at home is crucial, even at this early stage.

Brighton, under the leadership of new manager Fabian Hurzeler, have also had a flying start. Their impressive 3-0 win over Everton last weekend followed a convincing victory over Manchester United. They continued their momentum with a comfortable midweek Carabao Cup win over Crawley.

Mikel Merino is expected to be in the squad to make his Arsenal debut, likely off the bench if required. That being said I’d expect very little to be changed in the starting lineup from that decisive win against

As for Brighton the bright prospect from the Euros Ferdi Kaglioglu is likely to feature and certainly pose a lightning threat on the flanks for Ben White to control.

Bogeyman Brighton:

Brighton had proven to be a difficult opponent for Arteta’s Gunners, with the Seagulls winning three times at the Emirates since 2021. While Arsenal have generally fared better at the Amex, they secured two victories over Saturday’s opponents last season. Their 2-0 win before Christmas in north London was one of the club’s standout performances of the 2023/24 season.

Predictions:

Arsenal have the firepower to overcome the challenge that Brighton poses. Once again quick aggressive passages of play will be needed to overcome the tight compact system that Brighton poses.

That being said the pace on the wings that Saka provides, the direct approach from Trossard and clinical Kai should be more than enough to deal with Brighton effectively.

  • Scoreline: Arsenal 3 Brighton 0
  • POTM: Bukayo Saka
  • Suggested Bet: Saka to score & Arsenal to Win
